Choctaw Nation awards funds to Stigler, Haskell County

The Choctaw Nation awarded the city of Stigler $8,200 and Haskell County $4,700 from the Choctaw Community Partner Fund to continue to help strengthen and develop the local area, according to a media release.
The Choctaw Community Partner Fund contributions continue on a quarterly basis to cities and counties that host non-gaming businesses throughout the Nation’s 10.5 counties. The expectation is for each local government to apply the Choctaw Community Partner Fund contribution toward supporting and developing the communities that serve tribal and non-tribal citizens, the release states.
This is the seventh voluntary contribution from the Choctaw Nation, for a combined total of $80,100 to the city of Stigler and Haskell County.
Over the past seven contribution cycles, funds for the city of Stigler have been banked for a larger capital project.
Haskell County used its funds to update the courthouse lighting, replace the third-floor windows and purchase COVID protector screens.
The Choctaw Community Partner Fund began in 2019 and has put back $3,313,300 into southeastern Oklahoma communities, according to the release.
