Burn ban issued: Fires raging throughout county

Firefighters have battled several fires in the area recently, due to extremely dry conditions, and at least two firefighters have been injured.
A McCurtain firefighter was sent to the hospital after he was overcome by smoke while battling one fire and a Brooken firefighter sustained second-degree burns on both hands and wrists after falling into hot ashes at a grass fire in Mason Oaks area, according to fire officials.

During an emergency meeting on Feb. 1, Haskell County Commissioners issued a burn ban for the county.

Commissioners will evaluate conditions on Monday.
