Academic team places first at Areas, headed to State Competition

The Stigler Academic team is heading to the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) State Academic Bowl Tournament after coming in first place in their area meet hosted at Stigler on Saturday, Jan. 12.

In the first round Stigler went up against Kansas and came out with their first win of the day with a score of 240 to 80. In round two, Stigler played Poteau, winning again with a score of 230 to 160. In the third and final round, Stigler faced Wagoner and won once again, scoring a total of 220 points to Wagoner’s 170.

Coach Katrina Gragg stated that the Academic Team is the fourth seed at State. 

The Stigler Academic Team will head to the State Competition on Saturday, Feb. 2.
