Haskell County Democrat Party meeting
The Haskell County Democrat Party, 6 p.m.,  Kiamichi Technology Center campus, 1410 Old Military Road, Stigler. All candidates for state and local offices are invited to attend and speak. Rep. Ed Cannaday will be emceeing and will update us on what is happening at the capitol. Jason Nichols who is running for U.S. Rep. Second District will also be there. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is invited to come out and visit with and question the candidates seeking office.

Porum Landing Volunteer Fire Department; eight miles west of Porum on Texanna Road; 7-9:30 a.m.; proceeds help fund emergency and medical services offered by PLFD.

Gospel, country shows
Five big weekends are planned in March as Plumb Theatre theatre celebrates 15 years of gospel and country shows. The March 2 gospel show will feature David Patillo. On March 3, Paul Maloy will be in concert. Doors will open at 6 p.m. both nights, and the concerts will begin at 7 p.m. Details about the other shows will be in future issues. Plumb Theatre is located at 16505 state Highway 9E. More information: 918-452-2020.

Stigler American Legion meeting
Stigler American Legion meets the first Monday of each month (If a national holiday is on that Monday, the group will meet the second Monday of the month.) Meetings are conducted from noon until 1 p.m., with a working luncheon, at the Legion Hut (Haskell County Museum). On meeting days, a service officer is available 9-11 a.m. Old and new members invited. If you would like to join, come, bring a copy of your DD214\215. If you have any questions about eligibility, call spokesperson Ed Tatman at 918-351-4209. If no answer, please leave brief message. Next meeting will be March 5.

Lafayette Free Will Baptist Church will host a Bible study at 9:30 a.m. From Stigler, take state Highway 82 south for six miles, then west one-half mile. Watch for sign. Call Pastor Craig at 918-448-2419 with questions.

Trinity Baptist Church will host a women’s Bible study at noon at the Trinity Clothes Closet.

Pinterest Club
Stigler Public Library; 402 N.E. Sixth St., 4 p.m. A random craft from Pinterest will be made. Drop in between 4 and 6 p.m.

Storm spotter training
Haskell County Storm Spotter Training will be conducted at 6 p.m. The free program is sponsored by Haskell County Emergency Management. It will be conducted at the Kiamichi Technology Center campus, 1410 Old Military Road.

Kindergarten enrollment
Stigler kindergarten enrollment will be March 28 at the Administration Office, 309 N.W. E. St., 8:30 to 11:15 a.m., and 12 to 3 p.m. More information: Call Stigler Grade School, 918-967-8835.

Head Start enrollment
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Head Start Program is recruiting prospective students for the 2018-2019 School Year. Program serves children ages three to five.
Program primarily directed toward low-income families, however limited openings for over-income families are available. More information,  application: Choctaw Nation Head Start Center in Stigler at (918)967-2897.

Head Start enrollment
KI BOIS Community Action Head Start centers are recruiting children to attend Head Start for the 2018-2019 school year. For information for a Head Start Center in Haskell, Latimer, LeFlore or Pittsburg counties call 918-967-3325 or toll free 1-800-299-4479.
