Ward announces for DA spot

Longtime resident of Haskell County and former District 18 assistant district attorney, Farley Ward, announced his candidacy for the District 18 District Attorney’s seat today in McAlester. Ward, who is currently Assistant District Attorney in District 15 in Muskogee, recently purchased and moved into a home in McAlester and says he’s excited to start his campaign in what he considers to be his home district.

“I was raised in this district, and I spent some of the best years of my life serving the people of this district as an assistant district attorney,” said Ward. “I’ve always considered it home, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to come home and use my experience to make this district a better and safer place for all of us to live.”

Ward has more than 23 years of experience as a prosecuting attorney and nearly two years of experience as a special district judge in Oklahoma and says he considers himself a public servant rather than a politician.

“Those in District 18 who know me know that my career and life have always revolved around public service,” said Ward. “I know how important the integrity of our legal system is for not only dispensing justice but in protecting its citizens, and I believe that the people in Pittsburg and Haskell counties want a DA who has high regard for upholding the integrity of the system.”
