New Century Club presents comedy dinner theater

STIGLER, July 9 — Harold Dollefson’s had better days. Pretty soon he’ll be hitting the big five-oh, cresting the hill and heading down, down, down. And he’s not happy about it.
In fact, he’s downright depressed.
But Harold has plenty of friends, if only he’d get off of his pity-pot long enough to see it. So his wife decides to shock him into the realization that life’s not over when you hit 50 by holding a premature funeral instead of a conventional birthday party, inviting all of Harold’s friends and co-workers so he can see just how needed and loved he really is.
That’s the premise of “Let Him Sleep ‘Till It’s Time For His Funeral,” a two-act comedy that will be performed at the Stigler Veterans of Foreign Wars post on July 28.
“This is the first time we’ve ever done a play for a fundraiser,” said Theresa Lackey, president of the New Century Club in Stigler.
The New Century Club is a non-profit civic organization that provides money for a variety of projects, from helping to pay for a new fence at the Stigler baseball field, to banners for downtown, to scholarships for college students.
