Hospital gets new (interim) CEO

3

From staff and submitted reports
For 16 months, Scott McIntyre filled the CEO's position at Haskell County Community Hospital. Now he's resigned and moved to Missouri, and a new interim chief executive officer is taking his place.
Roland D. Gee has served in a wide range of administrative and financial positions throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Iowa, including stints as chief operating officer, chief financial officer and chief executive officer. He'll be filling in at Haskell County Community Hospital for a few months as the facility's owners, Missouri-based HMC/CAH, look for someone permanent to put in the position.  (more on this story in this week's Stigler News Sentinel)

A record ringing

3

By Doug Russell
News Editor
The young man — no more than 4 or 5 — stared intently at the people ringing bells and singing Christmas carols. He stared for a long moment Christmas Eve, then shoved his hand deeply into his pocket and began fishing around. When he drew it out, he clutched a handful of pennies — probably fewer than 10 — and carefully deposited the change into the cross on the top of the red bucket, doing his part to set a new record for giving in Haskell County.
Last year set a record. This year, that record fell and a new one went in its place as people from all over Haskell County donated nickels, dimes and dollars to the Salvation Army.
"I was really in awe of what we received," said Kay Box, of KI BOIS Community Action, which oversees the Salvation Army's efforts in Haskell County.
People gave more to the Salvation Army this year than at any other time since KI BOIS became a Salvation Army service center in 2004, breaking a record set last year by more than $4,000.
Altogether, Salvation Army donations for the 2011 Christmas season in Haskell County were $13,895.24. "That's quite a bit more than last year," Box said.
The 2010 total was $9,636.65.
"We live in a great community that has a giving heart and because of their generosity we had a very successful year with the kettle donations," said KI BOIS Community Action Executive Director/CEO Carroll Huggins. (more on this story in this week's Stigler News Sentinel)
