Reunion Days schedule shaping up

The schedule for Reunion Days 2011 is shaping up, with a carnival, quilt show and more set to be on hand during the annual festival.
Events will officially kick off the Thursday before Reunion Days, when the ever-popular Alversons take to the gazebo on June 16. The brother-sister gospel duo packed the courthouse lawn last year and is expected to do so again.

The biggest drive ever

It was the biggest one-day food drive in the country, and the biggest in history for Stigler postal employees.
Stigler postal workers collected 3,343 pounds of food during a one-day food drive Saturday, and they're thankful to the community for making it possible.
"It was absolutely awesome what they did," said postal employee Kelly Field. "This is the biggest drive we've ever had."(more on this story in this week's Stigler News Sentinel)

They're top of their class and ready to move on to the next level.
Hannah Coplen and Brooklyn Boyd have been named the top two students of the graduating Whitefield School eighth-grade class.
They and other students of the school will graduate at 6 p.m. May 19. The kindergarten and eighth grade graduations will be held at the same time, with a reception to follow the graduation ceremony.
Coplen, daughter of Shane and Andrea Coplen, is the valedictorian of the class. She plans to attend Porum High School.
The class salutatorian, Boyd is the daughter of Stacy Boyd and Joe Shockly and James and Patsy Harris. She plans to attend Stigler High School.
